the index is a project by two of new york city s underground music pioneers, raz mesinai aka badawi and dub war founder dave q. the label centers on original badawi productions at the intersection of dub and modern composition, as well as new works and remixes by some of the most forward-thinking artists at the outer limits of dubstep and experimental electronica. the first release was 2010 s head-melting el topo / dstry all pfrfts team-up with shackleton, and this second entry finds badawi reviving new york s dystopian hip hop lineage via a collaboration with the legendary mc sensational of jungle brothers and wordsound fame. no schnitzel is a militant, mind-bending half-step rhythm that sensational weaves in and out of, creating a new form of dubstep-hip hop hybrid with a unique bad apple flavor. the dubbed-out version strips it down to the instrumental roots, while flipside more schnitzel goes deeper into abstracted acid dubstep for the more adventurous soundsystem selectors.

dj deep is know as one of the key players in the french house and techno scene for many years now! recently he found some old recordings on dat tapes. going through these tapes he heard several tracks that somehow still sounded fresh!. after listening he got fascinated. he describes some of the cuts as raw and somehow naive tracksand as something naive, authentic and honest. so here we are... with a nice piece of wax that has 2 great tracks produced around 1994-1997, and 2 solid 2011 remixes. rootstrax comes with an excellent mix that is an emotional deep take that really captures the emotion of the original and brings it to a much more mature and deep territory. the marcelus mix gives us a much more radical, uncompromising techno interepretation. another stunner on deeply rooted house!!

following recent excursions for adam beyers drumcode imprint, joseph capriati delivers some hand picked remixes of tracks taken his 2010 lp save my soul. cari lekebusch and fergie remix the young neapolitan producer who has won a host of influential patrons such as dave clarke, billy nasty, slam, chris liebing and the advent in recent years. cari lekebusch, who needs no introduction, is up first and tackles gmid. the result is a purposeful, hypnotic and mechanical slice of linear techno that uses a fever-dream series of overlapping soundscapes to brilliant effect. british dj/producer and ex-radio 1 host, fergie, adds to proceedings of with his mix of noise to noise - a shuffling immaculately produced slice of contemporary techno with an arrangement aimed squarely at the floor. analytic trail has been instrumental in creating what is now recognized as the neapolitan techno sound. the labels dynamic and inventive approach is the key to their success and the name analytic trail is synonymous with the italian big-room techno sound. launched in 2001 by markantonio the label currently sits proudly at the head of italys vibrant techno scene

trio techno cover, it was just a question of time to reach the point when wayne considers himself to be the one to create a musical statement in order to show what he thinks about all the current status of some parts of the electronic dancemusic circus. he still suffers from too much so called >minimal< in his eyes and he wants back the energy he is missing on many occasions… >you know, techno without bass is like f…… without screwing him in…< some might say he s too late with this song, but thats simply wayne! in his universe the meaning of time is different to what we all would expect. anyway, he finally checked out garage band on the mac he recently >lended< from somebody he does not even know, and here we go with his first very own song. lyrics in german only and heavily inspired by one of the biggest hits from the 80ies from the german cult-formation >trio<, but to make a long story short: its waynes message that the so called minimal sound is definitely over now: >always klick and always klack, i can not tell how much it sucks...<

aah, how we have missed them! the fine young gentlemen that are channel x, two of stil vor talents most active producers of meticulously crafted and deeply energetic tech-house smash hits. and just in time for the open-air season they now come back with two very convincing pieces of dancefloor art. first up is >little symphony<, an epic space opera that takes it cues from early 90s techno and mixes it up with post-modern grooves and beats. the wide and open spaces are filled with some very hymnal string patterns that are given a final treatment with a reverbed and high-pitched vocal sample. contrast that with the rather jittery beat and a subbass as deep as the frequencies will go and you got yourself a substantially clear bit of techno that is best imagined when it is dark and only some beams of air tell you where you are. channel x do not produce, they direct and all of the sounds are their actors! on the flip things get more light-hearted and set for the daylight hours as well. >steamboat willie< is a heavily sample-orientated swinging piece of jack. the rhythm guitar lead the way on top of a clap-based loop that sets the basis for some very jazzy interpretations along the way. clarinets, trumpets, percussions, brass, effects and even some talking vocal samples are all allowed to join in this hedonistic big band that is at play. this is one for the sunshine, this is one for the smiles on the faces, this is one to feel instantly good about yourself and everything around you. two very different tracks on this ep, but both equally stand out for themselves

onno is a highly dosed dancing pill, pop one and your rubber legs turn into those of fred astaire. his last release already proved that he knows how to make you put yo hands up in da air! now, heres his latest little treat >hablando loco ep< upon you number 048. the title track opens with some sweet vocals and then drills into your a1 memory banks with the spanish monolog from el commandante. on b2 hes quite content with the few words : >i like that beat<. but onno likes the repetetive use of vocals like a fitness trainer trying to squeeze that last drop of sweat out of you. gavin herlihy, who some of you know from cocoon, takes a subtler approach to the track with his remix that writhes in the scented oils that is house-deepness.

we present you the newly born imprint outernational recordings. the kick off for this unique vinyl series is by basque county native kastil who sets the right tone with three wonderful disco edits at a mid-tempo / slomo pace. since uploading these tracks to his soundcloud page, the feedback has been enormous. side a contains the long, slow and loopy back to philadelphia, where kastil cleverly plays with the vocals and delay and creates a highly tense build up. theres no doubt that some large players in the very popular disco edit culture will play this one out. on the b1 side you find the track smd. a track which received great feedback by some key figures on soundcloud. this track is the ultimate pre-lude for the summer. fortunately, this is being released just early enough to enjoy this during the european and northern american summer. with again beautiful vocals floating through the track, this track definitely reminds one of a hot day in the local park. the b2 track is called rolls royce. perfect as the last track of this release since its a long edit which ends with a very atmospheric piano solo that keeps on floating through the last few minutes of the track. all and all, these edits will definitely make some heads turn after the date of release. supported by: cosmic boogie, dicky trisco, the legendary 1979 orchestra, sleazy beats recordings, ben la desh, 78 edits, osvaldo wilson, mannmademusic, gitchell moore

wph head honcho red d begins his new production collaboration series.... the label say here is your summer present from wph! four storming house tracks with that wph >oldskool in a new way< feel, the result of a couple of mad studio sessions at the lemakuhlar studio in landegem…now where the f*ck is that? near deinze of course…duh… the (un)usual suspects involved: lemakuhlar, social disco club, red d, metrobox and theres even some 20 seconds of san soda genius in one of the tracks. if you can find it, write the answer on a homing pigeon and win an eternal supply of wph love.

gerd is delivering at the moment! after releases on clone royal oak, philpot, a big re-issue on rejected, great remixes on 4lux and delusions of grandeur its time for him to release on his own 4lux label! a massive chicago influenced track called h.o.u.s.e. featuring the voice of l.b. bad, the prince of dance music. this track was originally penned in 1994 when gerd had elbee over to tour the benelux. the track was released on an obscure limited edition white label only back then, but here a new rework of these old recordings. 2011 sees the track remixed by gerd himself and he takes the tune into rough & uncompromising analogue territory with filthy synth bassline and relentless tr808 action. seriously good track!! jakob korn, arttu and neville watson are on remix duty and deliver some fresh remix that complete this record. recommended!

max essa is a producer who has been shipping over his extremely coveted brand of disco and balearica from the land of the rising sun for some time now. having had a long running string of sought after releases on labels such as bear funk, nang, to is it balearic, max is now making his needwant debut with >how do you feel?< which includes an awesome remix from kim ann foxman

proper heat slid onto the nangsphere last year with their nifty >we are ready< ep. they certainly were… good reception all around and some fine plaudits. fast forward on 6 months and we are really pleased that the follow up >move ep< hits the streets. proper heat are from lithuania and are made up of martin virgin, saxtone and some fine vocals from karolis ramoska. laid-back, accessible disco house is the order of the day with this ep. we have two finely voiced tracks. dulcet tones and catchy songs abound with karolis doing a fine job in the voice department. lead track >the move” is mid tempo groover. mixes from nang label new-long-found-friend james bright and label stalwart (and supertop photographer) ichisan… you are always a subject when you are in the same room as this guy…. snap snap snap. james grooves it up with tight synthy bass and ichisan gets electronic and rolling. you can check out the video for >the move< on youtube and our home page too. the equally able >get ready< also makes a strerling appearance on the ep. another fine disco groovoid song. all in all the package overflows with extra dubs and instrumentals. bountiful disco abounds.

pattern select aka milton jackson and show-b have gone well and truly back to the raw on this, their first collaborative work together and debut ep for delusions of grandeur. both producers have been busy on some top quality projects just recently with milton jackson remixing recloose for planet e and show b producing for robert owens on compost. the pair met at a party in munich, promptly fell in love, and soon enough pattern select was born. kicking off tale of the tape sees the pair go deep n dark on this low-slung groove where demonic laughter rides the driving hats and insesant crashes until the filtering arpeggiated synth line joins the fun. tale of the dub gives us a stripped back, dub-infused version which goes a little lighter on the craziness of the first version but without losing any of the deep, hypnotic funk.

when some collaborations occur, it feels like fate has been paying close attention, planning something special. on one hand: bugge wesseltoft, pianist, composer and pioneer of electronic jazz, on the other: henrik schwarz, one of the most sought after producers of electronic music who has remixed stars from michael jackson to ane brun. this combination may not seem as radical as once it might, as in the days before bugges new conception of jazz, but the results most certainly are: this does not feel like your typical electronic jazz outing. its a super-group in microcosm. wesseltoft comes from a jazz background and has moved towards electronic music. he started on the ecm label with jan garbarek, and later collaborated with club music legends like laurent garnier and francois kervorkian on stage. schwarz comes from the chicago/ detroit techno culture, and performs at music festivals and in clubs on all continents. he has been moving towards the jazz and improvisation

franksen & tom wax, two of the main characters of the frankfurt house scene releases there second bomb on amusedrecords. smoker is an realy hypnotic deep tech house track with some progressive house elements in it. cant control it on a2 is the most housy track on this ep. classical house elements like hi strings, vocals, analog cords meets a massive tech house groove. just like this on b1 is the most drum oriented track on this phatt ep. absolutly a massiv clubtrack that will rock your floor!

the -makeovers- project is a compilation of some of claudes best re-twists, some of which are so far removed they can almost be considered original works. this special edition vinyl includes one of the most sought after remixes, -warpaint- originally by pocket 808 in australia, vonstroke turned this into a late night anthem in 2007. played by techno djs, dubstep djs, and everyone in between this track was never cut to vinyl until now. on the flip side claude remixed the nublu orchestra out of new york. he was never completely happy with the original version of the remix and hes gone back and re-made it into a very special piece of music including a new vocal sample from his wife aundy who also did the vocal effects in whos afraid of detroit? this collection was put together with the theme that a remix can be an inspiring starting point for an entirely new piece of music. these are two of the deeper and darker remixes but we think you agree they are also very special.

in just a matter of months, life and death has swiftly established itself as purveyors of quality contemporary dance music, made by artists who would undoubtedly make anyone s short list of who i d like to invite to my afterparty . it seems only fitting then that with their newest release they ve recruited the undisputed kings of late night mayhem and madness for a paen tribute to that beautiful party after the party, the continuation of all things good and twisted.. the afterparty itself. not to take the issue of such a joyful celebration lightly, dop has gone on secret missions over the last 6 months, quietly (and often not so quietly) infiltrating afterparties worldwide and secretly extracting pituitary secretions from the rowdiest party goers at each of them. they then took these secretions, burned them in a special voodoo ceremony and immediately went into the studio to create a fitting tribute to the after-hours festivities we all hold so dear. once that was complete, friends were invited and even more deviants came to the party for some dirty late night remix action. clockwork (who s recently released it s you again on hot creations has already been the soundtrack to many an after party) are here, french wolf+lamb collaborator le loup is here, mas collective (who recorded on seminal nyc label strictly rhythm) is here and marius & david are here too.. everybody giving it their own special flavor. what an afterparty indeed.

remerc is no new face to the scene. he has been active for quite some time in the german techno scene and has recently remixed butchs track >muskatnuss< on the trapez ltd 100 anniversary compilation. he had his breakthrough in 2010 with the track >tiny calf< which ended up on the cocoon compilation >party animals< mixed by marco carola and nick curly. remerc opens his release with >ruhewolf<, a restless funkedelic rocker with a beat that juggles elements in a loose and totally cool way. the track is spiced up with elements of surreal bliss and could go on forever were there not the limitations of the vinyl. on the flipside we find an hanne & lore remix that tightens and fattens up the beat and pimps up the basslines. adding some twisted sounds ... making it a clubber par excellence. >just a bards tale< is a unique remerc track and stands out from all the productions he has done so far. here new wave coloured edgy vocals meet a post-detroit string-chord arrangement. sounds adventurous and daring? well it is to some degree... but recall >no more words< by carl craig from 1991 but executed in a dead modern way.

as the producer responsible for some of lil b and soulja boys weirdest, most inventive beats, and following on from a critically acclaimed, self released mixtape of instrumentals collected from his work over the years with various forward thinking hip hop artists, tri angle is very excited to announce the release of >rainforest<, the debut ep by clams casino. the five songs that make up >rainforest< find clams casino (aka 23 year old new jersey native, michael volpe) refining his ethereal, otherworldly sound, whilst taking it to a heavier and more intense extreme. what has set clams casino apart from most other hip hop producers is his skill in making records that sound just as good, if not better, instrumentally as they do with vocals, and if anyone needed it, >rainforest< represents the confirmation of this. its a record drenched in mysterious atmospherics, like a foggy memory of a far off exotic place, the details buried beneath the mist of distortion, but present nonetheless. none of the songs on >rainforest< have ever been released before, and in contrast to most of his other productions these songs have always existed purely as instrumentals, free of any vocal presence. >rainforest< is an incredibly powerful release which signals the beginning of clams casino coming into his own and operating as an important artist in his own right

after his last ep on stil vor talent in 2009, born-and-bread berliner sascha braemer is now back with three fresh tracks for the spring of 2011. in the meantime, his funky minimal jump-up tech-house has led him to release on labels as prolific as kindisch or dirtybird. things kick off with >belle<, a ferocious attack on your groove muscles and dancing bones. this tune glides as softly as the wings of an angel while shaking you around like a giant would a dwarf. the up-beat groove is based on a great cut-up vocal sample and some animating synthesizer stabs. sweet! then, >felicitous<, which is considerably slower than the previous two tracks. still, the vocal on this one and the deep electronic body come together perfectly to form a deep and dirty suckerpunch to your euphoria synapses. last up is >people< keeps the effected vocal approach and that really makes this tune. imagine a super deep bassline, some wonderfully syncopated hi-hat trickles and a constant groove to underline the power of the vocal. this track is club pop - so deep and yet so magic it will run shivers down your spine on the breakdown. sascha braemer seems to have put all his experience of peak-time club moments to early morning afterhour visions into his own transcript of signature sound. this is not be mistaken, this is simply on-point

boundaryless ep fromnew producer, tessela, the first vinyl release for the west country (uk) producer. making some noise in the virtual world, this foray into vinyl is a mix of styles with the heavy emphasis on bass made all the more interesting by the pitched down vocals and synths. ravey but dubby, dark but fun, 3 tracks in all give a proper introduction to his developing sound.

ryo murakami, labelowner of panrecords releases a new 4 track ep that contains a remix of lunch of god by stereociti (mojuba /from tokyo) which has a deeply atmosphere. next track is very deep and has slowly beats its a very dub track from start to end. the last track has a synth phrase and some voice left to the head is impressive.

nice price deal !!! the emergence of (another) very british sound in the form of dubstep some years back now has mutated into something altogether more cerebral. the chain are a product of this incipient sound and the many new strands that have splintered forward from it. dan foat is one half of the team that runs r&s, the newly invigorated label that is back at the forefront of contemporary electronic music. he’s also one half of the chain. dan & nathan boddy have for a while now had a studio near london bridge, which has formed into the r&s engine room, a hub for the second wave of their artists, pariah, james blake, space diimension controller et al who regualrly pass through the basement to drink tea and listen to new tracks.

patrick lindsey is no new comer . active in the techno world since more than a decade , releasing music on labels like terminal m , kanzleramt , kling klong , sci_tec to name a few . so when davide squillace and luca bacchetti received a demo from the german producer , they were really impatient to open the zip file and discover what was inside . the two discovered a four track ep full of analogue synths , organic beats and grooooove . so here is hideout ninth reference : get up and bounce ep by patrick lindsey . it all starts with > what i remember < a very strong anthem with a disco funk loop background and deep vocals by k. mason. the title track > get up and bounce < is next with its hypnotic >get up< voice snipet on top of a shuffled semi acoustic groove full of cow bells and snare drums. third track of the ep is named lockruf , evolving from a jazz sample thru vocal snipets , crazy drum rolls and saxo hooks. the last track of the ep is schleifkraft where a straight to the point chicago groove is topped with some more vocals , a very bouncy bass line and analogue synth sounds . a new reference in the hideout catalogue , four new techno tracks soon to become classics !

>supergravity<, a simultaneously gritty while ambient track of the highest order, recalls not only drexciya and the detroit underground in its prime, but the ambient techno hey day of artists like the black dog and the inimitable lfo. >atlas detection<, with its subsonic rumble and pins-and-needles like synths is music for the dancefloor at the ripest darkest hour. harnessing noise in the most seductive of ways, it is undeniable in its extraterrestrial appeal. >andolit swaras< displays the minds of minimalist composers, with its striking approach of having its melody lead the narrative it tells- as opposed to dancefloor traditions of rhythmic domination. it is intelligent and dream-like, sublime and filled with reverie, as random as the dreams that ones psyche presents. lastly, they give us a real bite into a slice of phuture hip hop. working with sensational, legendary mc for the jungle brothers, they twist hip hop into an acidic downtempo track that hits hard to say the least. its a dubsteppers dream on some level, but with a crafty psychedlic component that mesmerizes.

>dysfunction<, hannulelauris first ep on i m a cliche goes beyond the dreamy, cosmic atmosphere of their previous releases and remixes on other eurodisco labels. the duos new sound still sends us floating but with an edgier, more toxic ride. hannu and lauri aka hannulelauri created a track for i m a cliche, a remix of botoxs hit >blue steel<. this track inspired the label to make more room for the finnish duo and bring their new music into its discography.
these two have been active figures in helsinkis club scene for quite a while, producing music together since 2006. when they crossed the borders of finland, the name of the band was pretty hard to retain but it didnt take long for all the bigwigs of modern disco to memorize it. two originals and a selection of remixes: >dysfunction< steps into the territory of deep melodic house with a classic resonance >box of box< throws around some fun rough beats toby tobias remix of dysfunction is iced with elegance and soulfulness. populettes remix of >box of box< is the new best friend of house dancers.

newly signed to planet mu, travis stewart aka machinedrum is known to the electronic music cognoscenti as one of the finest, yet inexplicably underexposed producers out there. after an extended ep last year on the luckyme label he is putting out this four tracker followed by an album with mu, and his new tracks and live performances are garnering some excited attention and new fans and supporters. the songs on this ep are light and sun-hued with psychedelic, colourful sounds and melodies. clocking in at around 160 bpm, they work within ands alongside the rhythmic conventions of footwork and jungle, with a hefty dose of uk-flavoured bassomatic house thrown in for good measure.
